To affirm our commitment to protect privacy rights MCAET has established this Privacy Policy.

MCOE and the MCAET Media Center are committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all of its information assets; and protecting the privacy of our personnel, students and residents of Monterey County, in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Our Privacy Principles

  • We collect personally identifiable information, by lawful means, and only use and retain information which is relevant and necessary.
  • We disclose the personally identifiable information we collect and how we use this information, in advance, to help carry out legitimate business tasks which are consistent with purposes previously specified.
  • We strive to ensure the accuracy of information.
  • We have implemented procedures for reviewing and correcting the personally identifiable information we collect.
  • We appropriately restrict access to personally identifiable information.
  • We use general monitoring of employee activities, to the extent necessary, to protect privacy, in accordance with applicable law.
  • We do not disclose personally identifiable information to external parties, unless it is permitted or required by law.

The MCAET Director is responsible for ensuring this policy is maintained.

Media

If you upload video or images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Copies of school based or other permission forms must be included with all submissions for any minors appearing in teacher submitted content or projects.

All videos submitted must follow the guidelines below.

1. Programs must be free of all commercial content.
2. Programs may not contain copyrighted materials. This includes most plays, television programs, motion pictures and music.
3. Out of town programs must be represented by a “local presenter.” No exceptions.
4. Programs should not contain slanderous or obscene material.
5. Preferred program lengths are 60 minutes, 30 minutes, 15 minutes and PSAs under 5 minutes.
6. Programs must be submitted in MPEG Format
7. Programs of poor technical quality will not be accepted.
8. Programs with poor audio will not be accepted.
9. Priority is given to locally produced programming.
10. MCAET tv reserves the right to preview any programs.

Contact forms

If you choose to submit information to us, any private information will be used only for the purposes for which it was provided and will not be shared with another entity, except as prescribed by law.

You may choose to provide us with personal information, as in a contact form or an e-mail, with a comment or question. We use the information to improve our service to you or to respond to your request. Sometimes we forward your e-mail to other state employees who may be better able to help you, and this staff may be employed by a different agency within the State. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations or as required by law, we do not share our e-mail with any other organizations.

We use your e-mail to respond appropriately. This may be to respond to you, to address issues you identify, to further improve our Web site, or to forward the e-mail to another agency for appropriate action.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our YouTube site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

At this time we do now allow comments or logged in useres to the MCAET.org site, and only use cookies on our site for those purposes.

Embedded content from other websites

This site includes embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from Twitch (www.twitch.com) and YouTube (www.youtube.com) and may have embedded content from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

What rights you have over your data

If you submit a video, image, media file or artwork to MCAET, you authorize the Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) and MCAET tv and the associated producers to use, broadcast record and edit content you upload into programs, series and/or segments and related materials, using your name, likeness, image, voice and performance. MCOE/MCAET tv and the producer may use and authorize others to use all parts of the submitted media, including the recordings, for any purpose and dispose of without limitation as MCOE/MCAET tv and the producer shall, in their sole discretion, determine. This authorization is without date and restriction.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Indemnification

User agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CDE, its contributors, any entity jointly created by them, their respective affiliates and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against all claims and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising out of the use of the online service by the user or user’s account.
